In April of 2007, NODE version 2 was established in the heart of Columbia. It is a 4,800 sq ft gutted out warehouse/office space featuring 2 story ceilings and a 2nd floor mezzanine loft. It features a unique theme of industrial design elements, like exposed brick walls and aluminum conduit, and rich warm colors.
There's ample parking out front, and plenty of space inside to stretch your arms and legs out.
The front half of the space contains the front desk, as well as snacks and drinks. Soon to be added will be a selection of frozen smoothies and light fare food items. There are no plans to serve coffee or Starbucks-esque mocha-choca-caca-latta-poo drinks. Somehow, our NODE member base doesn't strike us as the biscotti-espresso-sipping-while-I-frag crowd.
The space is still under progression, but also in the front, to complement the new selection of drinks and food, will be a refreshed lounge/dining area. A place where our members can relax while the blood rushes out of their heads from 8 straight hours of gaming.
There are 2 orangy orange bathrooms, one for guys, and one for all those playboy models that randomly stroll in every night (god they're so annoying, just leave! I'm trying to play some Warcraft 3, sheesh..)
The back half is where the beef is. On the ground level under the Mezzanine, there's 4-30" Widescreen HDTV's with consoles, and 2-6ft HDTV home theater projectors. Seating is comprised of lounge sofas.
Onto the Mezzanine. Going up the stairs will take you to a 900 sq ft nest of PC's. 14 to be exact. As well as a lounge area with a 42" Plasma with Dish TV and console's hooked up. |
In 2005, we took possession of the original NODE space off of Route 40 in Ellicott City. It was 1,800 sq ft of retail space. Cute, but it sometimes got cramped.
Beyond that on the ground level, there's our 4 full sized 1" slate top pool tables, and 12 of our 26 gaming PC's. On the very back wall is our honkin' 15ft big screen where we run Dish TV and whatever else our members request to watch as they game.
